Déjà Vu

Ulrich Beck’s Risk Society is not a tragedy conspired by a select few, but an inevitable byproduct of Modernity, which, each and every one of us has participated and contributed to.

These low probability, high consequences events or risks are inherent in the very nature of our modern society. We’ve seen them in the past, and we will see them again in the future.

Unpredictable, uncontrollable and unprecedented as they are, the question to us, as an individual: is there anything else we could do rather than forming our own narratives, hunting and blaming the “scapegoats”, in the name of looking for “truth”?

A masterpiece nevertheless, both the series and this video essay.
